SO FAR THIS YEAR: Earnhardt, driver of the No. 88 Diet Mountain Dew Chevrolet SS, has recorded three wins, 11 top-five finishes and 16 top-10s in 23 NASCAR Sprint Cup events this year. His 11 top-five results rank him first and he is tied with Gordon for the most top-10 finishes.

DRIVER RATING: Earnhardt ranks 13th in the driver rating category at Bristol Motor Speedway with an average score of 88.5 according to loop data from the last 19 races. The maximum a driver can earn in each race is 150 points. The driver rating number is used pre-race as a prediction tool and post-race as a performance evaluator.

30TH ANNIVERSARY: In 2014, Hendrick Motorsports is celebrating its 30th anniversary in NASCAR. The organization began in 1984 with five employees and 5,000 square feet of work space. It has grown to approximately 600 employees with a 430,000-square-foot facility that sits on 140 acres. Driver Geoff Bodine won the Martinsville Speedway spring race on April 29, 1984, marking Hendrick Motorsports’ first victory in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series.

DALE EARNHARDT JR. (ON BRISTOL MOTOR SPEEDWAY): “Bristol is a fun racetrack. I love racing on the short tracks. We don’t get to do a whole lot of it throughout the year so I’m really hoping to just be able to make all the laps. If you are out there making all the laps, you’re going to be enjoying yourself because you can’t run around Bristol without having fun.”
