Dale Earnhardt Jr. will start 25th for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Daytona International Speedway.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. will start Saturday night’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Daytona International Speedway from the inside of row 13 after posting a qualifying speed of 190.848 mph (47.16 sec.).

Current Sprint Cup Series points’ leader Matt Kenseth earned the Coors Light Pole Award with a fast time of 192.386 mph (46.781 sec.). Tony Stewart, Ryan Newman, Kasey Kahne, and Greg Biffle complete the top five. Jeff Gordon, Bill Elliott, Casey Mears, A.J. Allmendinger and Brad Keselowski make up the remainder of the top 10.

Discussing his late-race strategy for Saturday’s 160-lap event, Earnhardt Jr. told reporters, “It just depends on what you need to do and what is happening or who is around and what’s happening. If you’ve got an opportunity at the end of the race on one of them last restarts to get with, if your teammate happens to be the guy that you are working with that is the best case scenario because we have seen that work a lot of times here.”

Dale Jr.’s No. 88 National Guard/Diet Mountain Dew Chevrolet is carrying a special red, white and blue paint scheme as part of the NASCAR Unites – An American Salute program.

Coverage of Saturday’s race begins at 6:30 p.m. ET on TNT.
