Dale Earnhardt Jr. will start 16th in Saturday night's Samsung Mobile 500 at Texas Motor Speedway.

The lineup is set for Saturday night’s Samsung Mobile 500 at Texas Motor Speedway. Dale Earnhardt Jr. will start 16th after posting a lap of 188.442 mph (28.656 sec.) in the No. 88 Diet Mountain Dew/National Guard Chevrolet. Martin Truex Jr. won the pole with a lap of 190.369 mph (28.366 sec.). Joining Truex on the front row will be Matt Kenseth.

“We had a pretty good Turn 1 and 2, but in (Turns) 3 and 4, the car got real tight. I couldn’t get back to the throttle and it cost us a lot of time down there. But we still got an okay lap." Earnhardt told reporters after making his qualifying run, "So, I think we would have had a real good lap if we could have gotten through 3 and 4 a little bit better. But we’ll race good.”

Greg Biffle, Mark Martin and Kasey Kahne rounded out the fast-five qualifiers for Saturday’s race. Ryan Newman, Marcos Ambrose, Brad Keselowski, Jamie McMurray and Jimmie Johnson completed the top ten.

Earnhardt enters Saturday’s race second in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series points’ standings trailing Biffle by six points. Coverage of the Samsung 500 begins Saturday night at 7 p.m. ET on Fox.
