NASCAR announced today that start times for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series will move closer to primetime for 2017.

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (July 27, 2016) – NASCAR announced today that start times for 17 national-series events across the NASCAR Sprint Cup, NASCAR Xfinity and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series schedules will move closer to primetime for 2017. The announcement of the start times and network assignments comes just two months after NASCAR posted the 2017 series schedules.

Seventeen NASCAR Cup Series point races will air on broadcast television next year, including the DAYTONA 500 and Coca-Cola 600 on FOX; and the Brickyard 400 and the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series championship race, from Homestead-Miami Speedway, on NBC. Airing these events closer to primetime helps bring NASCAR’s side-by-side racing and photo finishes to larger audiences.

In addition, the sanctioning body also announced the move of the fall Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup event at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway to NBC and the fall Chase events at Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway and Kansas Speedway to NBC Sports Network.

"It's our responsibility, collectively as an industry, to ensure the sport is healthy, strong and growing by delivering great racing in a way that best meets the needs of our fans," said Steve Herbst, senior vice president, broadcasting and production at NASCAR. "Earlier insight on start times benefits not only fans, but also our teams and tracks, as it provides more opportunities to plan travel and to purchase race tickets."

The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series is in its final season; a new series sponsor is expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
