Organization: Dale Earnhardt Inc.
Having already won the Budweiser Shootout five days earlier, Dale Jr.'s assault on 2003 Daytona Speedweeks continued by winning the second Gatorade Twin 125-mile qualifying race. Starting on the pole, Dale Jr. led 38 of the 50 laps, including the final 18 circuits. His only pit stop was for fuel, and it took no longer than four seconds to fill the Budweiser Chevrolet with enough gas to reach the end. The unusual four-second stop left a sizeable margin between himself and teammate Michael Waltrip. The challengers eventually drafted their way up to the rear of the Bud car with eight laps to go, but none could make a serious passing attempt before the checkered flag flew.
