New season. Same result. Dale Jr. made it two-in-a-row at Talladega by winning the Aaron's 499. It was Junior's first win of 2002. He dominated by leading 133 of 188 laps to beat Dale Earnhardt Inc. teammate Michael Waltrip to the stripe. It was the third time in the last five restrictor-plate races that Earnhardt Jr. and Waltrip had finished in the top two positions. A multi-car pile-up on lap with 22 laps to go and a red-flag period for debris with seven to go didn't hinder the eventual fate of the No. 8 Budweiser Chevrolet, which was a trip to Victory Lane. "I put a lot of emphasis on Daytona and Talladega," he said. "Daddy and I never talked about it, but I began to learn a lot of things he did (at restrictor-plate tracks), and I feel like that helps me."
