2011 Chase for the Cup

Dale Jr. earned a spot in NASCAR's Chase for the Championship for the fourth time in 2011. Finishing no worse than 12th in seven of his first eight races, Junior and new crew chief Steve Letarte carried their momentum through the midway point of the season, nearly picking up wins at Martinsville, Charlotte, and Kansas. Junior would start the Chase playoff with a third-place finish at Chicagoland Speedway, but that was the best result he would capture in the 10-race finale. He finished the year seventh in points (-113 to champion Tony Stewart) with four top-fives, 12 top 10s and a Daytona 500 pole award.
