2008 Chase for the Cup

The 2008 season was perhaps Dale Jr.'s best start to any of his previous Sprint Cup campaigns, as he scored one win, seven top fives and 10 top 10s in his first 15 races. When the points were reset for the Chase drivers to contend for the 2008 championship, Dale Jr. started in a four-way tie for fourth with Jeff Burton, Denny Hamlin and Clint Bowyer. Highlighted by a second-place finish at Martinsville, Junior ended with two top-fives in the 2008 Chase. He finished 12th in the final point standings with one win, 10 top-fives and 16 top-10s.
